R.Evoluti0n

Act I

Was it good the taste of the apple in the Garden of Eden? We still prefer apple pie to most cookies. Thinking of ourselves as different from other species of the earth forced us to choose to live differently. And to fulfill needs that are above the simple surviving. Leaving behind a stone-cold cave for a steel and concrete cozy flat was a leap over time that still thrills and stirs the imagination.

We stay always at the crossroad of time and space because from the center we may shape dimensions as we desire. Adaptation to environment means not co-existence with climate or geography, but improvement of conditions and a constant search for alternatives which could provide a better existence. Searching for a fitting armour to wear at a certain time.

This spectacle that men directed from his tribe slowly developed into an extraordinary story to which our ancestors are authors: the festival of life. Shepherds became hunters, they breed and killed as part of a macrocosmic process where they represented one of the chains between animals and gods. We settled in the name of agriculture and build up cities and temples. The first retirement from nature, evolving from herds to gatherings. We started to desire other cities and work-labour seeing in foreigners the same animals we used to hunt.

Evolution has a complex entropy, its directions are like rays of the sun so that good is evil to some and vice versa to others. History is never written then but it is paradoxically an invention of the future.

Man continues to climb up the ladders to his self-sufficiency. Where one loses, the other sees an opportunity and we become each one a society in itself.

Act II

We have reclaimed the throne of the world and here we have it. We once knew our place on earth and make most of it by working hard to thrive inside our limits and cherishing what nature had in store for us. Lately, many of us unconsciously renounced to accept what they are and accustom to believe many things that they are not.

It is simple as that: the new nature shaped by evolution, sheer process of dynamics, our new nature that despite this contradiction strives to be in touch with the earth, the essential nature.

Perhaps in the center of this osmosis of the spirit, we forgot the most important aspect of man: the relation to nature. Presently this word denotes artifice, museum, tourism, weather dependence. Symbolist movement with no literacy.

Baudelaire began his stylistic revolution declaring nature as grotesque and praised the artificial. It was an evident provocation. In his famous poem Correspondences, he spoke of nature as a temple where our senses are being exalted. It takes a humble effort to retake possession of this spirit, an effort of sincerity which we all make effortlessly as we stand at the intersection of all that is for us.

Borrowing shapes from the urban architecture, the garments from the new collection are drawing broken lines intersecting at sharp angles around the body covering it like armor for our times.

The collection finds itself at the start of a Reconstruction by letting go of old layers and making room for new ones, transforming and carving, even more, the individuality, yet in a conscious way. How about we start a new R.Evoluti0n within ourselves?
