UNpatched Vulnerabilities
Vulnerability = the quality or state of being exposed to the possibility of being attacked or harmed, either physically or emotionally.
The concept behind this collection is inspired by the analogy between software and human vulnerabilities that both can be exploited to conduct an attack on the target.
Software vulnerabilities are often fixed via patches meant to reduce the attack surface. We humans behave in a similar manner with our vulnerabilities: we hide them, we deny them and we cover them with layers of perfectly acceptable behavior and appearance demanded by the society or social circle we live in. Sometimes we might not even realize that we set foot into the same patterns.

But what is emotional vulnerability? There have been articles, talks, books about emotional vulnerability in the last couple of years, and Brene Brown, is one of the persons that has dedicated her studies to this subject. She defines vulnerability as "uncertainty, risk, and emotional exposure". Vulnerability is typically seen of as the center of emotions such as grief, shame, fear, disappointment; but it is also the center and birthplace of love, belonging, authenticity, creativity, courage, and accountability.”
In her book “The power of vulnerability” Brene Brown says that vulnerability is our most accurate measure of courage: "to be vulnerable, to be imperfect, to allow ourselves to be seen."
UNpatched Vulnerabilities features zero waste pieces, built up from only one piece of fabric, with no patterns involved. It’s not one of the best practices in the fashion industry, but I love to go through the process of creating and engineering each piece of clothing, thinking of the person who will wear it. Not doing things by the book has its downside, but having commercial value was never the scope of this project.
From dresses, coats, jackets to tops, each piece holds a balance between functionality and unconventional design. All pieces are transformable so that the wearer can play and create new outfits by pulling strings, removing sleeves, opening zippers, and revealing a new side of her/him.
